Who We Are

The idea for the Nashville Whiskey Society started in 2015 when Founder Matthew Clements was looking into social clubs focused on whiskey and the growing love of the American spirit here in Nashville.  When he found nothing that came close to his vision, Matthew decided to take it upon himself to establish the social and cultural experience he was originally looking for. After bringing it up to fellow founders Scott Malinoff and Bryan Edwards, the vision Matthew had in early 2015 is now (becoming) a reality.

Matthew grew up in Lakeland, Florida, where he attended college at Florida Southern and eventually earned his MBA.  Florida Southern is where he met his wife, Erin, a Nashville native. When both completed their degrees, they decided to call Nashville home where he works as a sales professional. After meeting Scott and Bryan, the three struck a friendship that has lead to the establishment of the Nashville Whiskey Society.

Scott moved to Nashville from California in 2013 with his wife Brandi where he works for his family's business and coaches football at the Ensworth School. Scott has always liked whiskey, but he fell in love with the spirit after moving to Nashville, appreciating the history and culture to the process of distillation and everything in between. When Matthew approached him about the idea to start the Nashville Whiskey Society, it was a no-brainer. In May of 2016, Scott and Matthew traveled to Louisville and took the course to become Executive Bourbon Stewards.

Bryan came to Nashville with his wife Jessica over 10 years ago to pursue his career as a singer/songwriter.  After having a cut on Jason Aldean's "My Kinda Party" album, and opening for major country artists such as Charlie Daniels, Keith Urban, and Jason Aldean, he joined with fellow songwriter Hope Nix to start their successful up-and-coming duo Indigo Summer.  Beyond his music career, Bryan has a background in finance, business management, and a love for whiskey. Because of this, he always knows a good opportunity when he sees one and did not want to pass up the chance to help start the Nashville Whiskey Society.

From casual conversations in each other's living rooms to now, their mission remains the same: bring Nashvillians together to enjoy good whiskey and great people while supporting small businesses and the local community.

We hope you'll join us on this journey. Cheers!
